Element of Drama Essay Example for Free
Element of Drama Essay Accordingly, elements of drama consist of literary, technical and performance elements. In Hamlet, it can be said that the elements of drama for each category are quite obvious. The first element to consider is the characters. It can be said that most dramas composes of the major and minor characters and in line with Hamlet, The major characters include Hamlet and Claudius and the minor include Marcellus which serves a specific purpose of informing the lead character of the appearance of the his fatherââ¬â¢s ghost. There is also protagonist antagonist and in the case of Hamlet, the protagonist is Hamlet and the antagonist. Another type of character is the stereotype and the role of Hamlet also shows how such s stereotype has been modified. The theme of Hamlet is commonly stated as the failureââ¬â¢s of the youth of poetic temperament to adjust with different situations which demand action. The plot lies on the struggles of Hamlet and how she cope or not cope with the situation that challenges her. It can be said that Hamlet has been able to achieve artistic maturity through the opposing struggles of the people in the drama the moral integrity that it implies with the audiences. In terms of technical side, it can be said that drama plays have been able to produce a sense of hatred and revenge to the audience with how they perform the drama. For instance, the settings show a heavy feeling in the part of Hamlet because of the death of his father. The musical scores alike provide revengeful music as they try to make the people feel the tension among characters. The actors and actresses of the play has been very effective in making the audience feels the wrath of Hamlet because of what happened to his father (Bradley, 51). It can be said that Hamlet was written with poetic diction that uses eloquent words as well as phrases and the performance have shown in their actions how this drama has been able to create and keep tensions and suspense throughout the play. All in all, it can be said that this drama has been able to use different elements integrated to establish a tragedy. Esos elementos van unidos, no separados.

Greek Theater in 5th Century BCE Essay -- essays research papers
Greek Theatre in 5th Century BCE à à à à à The Ancient Greeks, probably one of the most fascinating civilizations to study contributed several discoveries and technological advancements. One can not discuss the Greeks without discussing Greek Theatre though. Greek Theater paved the way for literature and art in later history in many ways. If it wasnââ¬â¢t for Greek Theatre famous play writers like Shakespeare would have never done what they are so very well known for. When studying Greek Theatre it is virtually impossible not to hear about it in the 5th Century BCE, and that is because the 5th Century BCE was rather exciting when it came to Greek Theatre. à à à à à The origin of Greek Theatre in 5th Century BCE is not known. Dozens of hypotheses exist, but there is not really any conclusive hard evidence. What is known on the other hand is that tragedies were first performed in Athens in 6th Century BCE, and that they were very simple. They only had one actor and one chorus. In the 5th Century BCE this changed though. A second and third actor were added to plays, but there were no more then three speaking actors on stage at once. Throughout 5th Century BCE the average size of the chorus was twelve through fifteen members. à à à à à The theatrical performances were part of the worship of the god Dionysus, the god of fertility and wine. Out of the four festivals of worship for Dionysus, two them included theatrical perfo...

International and Strategic Marketing Essay
ââ¬Å"If you stop building stars, which we never do, you wouldnââ¬â¢t be in business. â⬠- (McMahon, 2010) Dreaming of big and successful businesses, would be a convenient task to do but when it comes to fulfill it, troubles, pain, hardships and hurdles are already in attendance to welcome. Starting up a business or even launching it in other countries is not as easy as it may sound. Choosing an industry, that matches ones interests and wants is definitely a thorny job. A slightest decision or choice made if goes wrong affects the whole business and its profitability especially when the purpose is to expand it internationally. Taking a business from bottom to the peak is another tough job thatââ¬â¢ can not be possible if proper guidance is not present. Many small organizations became huge after expanding there business internationally and now they are taken in the list of the top and the most successful organizations of the planet. All the success is not achieved in a day or month but wise and effective decisions and appropriate budget is needed to be there not only these but also the proper allocations of the finances help businesses in climbing up the ladder. The expansion of the business is not only obliging to the entrepreneurs but also to those who work for the organization. Every person would desire to be associated with a company that has a name recognized internationally. As we are related to the fast food chain industry, and up till now we have opened up almost one hundred and thirteen franchises all around the country, due to which our organization has been able to make attractive profits and a good will among the general public. This couldââ¬â¢ve also be done in another way by increasing the number of food items we serve in our menu but again this way the business will remain to be in a limit of only a single country and on the second thought we already have a menu carrying more than hundred dishes covering almost all cuisines. The idea of launching our business world wide may sound a big and a tough step but itââ¬â¢ll help the organization to expand more and also gain recognition on an international level we have examples present around us like Mc Donaldââ¬â¢s, KFC, Coffee Day, Dominoââ¬â¢s and others. The business will be able to maintain its good will among the international consumers. This is going to create an image of business success in the minds of people; besides this business expansion is usually seen as a prominent feature of the entrepreneurââ¬â¢s business efforts and also the efforts made by one to fulfill its vision. Itââ¬â¢ll also help the business to increase the percentage of its share in the market. Not only will this but also assist our business to gain more capital through making more shareholders in the organization. By expanding our business internationally weââ¬â¢ll be able to produce more customers. Opening up a franchise will result in hiring more employees to take care of the business. This will not only help us but also will create job opportunities for others, causing more interests of other people regarding the business. There will be certain incentives given to the business, like tax exemptions, permit to use of property, granting loans if needed and others. The chances of easily benefiting ourselves from the economies of scale will amplify. To expand our business internationally all the strategies have been under gone. Having appropriate money for the expansion and also depicting the future of the business on an international level or how should we expand our business geographic wise or should the business line be extended? These are some important strategies made for a proper expansion of a business. (K, 2010) Keeping all these advantages in mind the idea is to introduce our fast food franchise in a developed country India. The analysis and studies have shown that fat food industry there is booming at an extreme fast pace that is the fast food industry is flourishing by 40% per year. Studies have shown that today more than 10 million workers are employed only in the food preparation and serving all over the world and the employee turnover can grow up to 200%. (Fast food industry in India, 2009). Moreover our fast food restaurant will get a chance to pioneer in those specific dishes that we provide domestically only. The Indian food industry is expected to generate billions of dollars in the coming years. No wonder the economy of India is growing incredibly giving chances to international business persons like us to expand our business in the lad of India. Fast food industry has been a blessing to Indian economy and is very much successful in financial ways and also in helping the quick service food to gain popularity among the citizens. (Shanker, 2010). We not only see the international organization flourishing there but also some big business tycoonââ¬â¢s have been generated from India like Tata Birla, Ambani and others renowned. India positions second in agriculture yield, like foresting, logging and fishing all of this contributes 17% of the Indian GDP in 2009 a slight decrease in its share in GDP, yet is the largest economic sector and also acts a vital role in the socio economic development in India (CIA-2007) The access supply of raw materials to the fast food industry in this country is present; because of the changing climate its soil holds plant variety with almost 15000 species of higher plants (Paroda and Mal, 1989) because of this reason other international fast food chains are flooding into this country. The home growing competition with other MNCs does have not only helped us in learning a lot of things but has also made us able to figure out our mistakes and improve them. We not only are improving inland but also that we have a number of people that are expertise in product development, quality standards and service levels. We have the best recruiters present in our organization. This way theyââ¬â¢ll help in choosing the best management for us internationally. Coming up with a perfect and flawless franchise in another country will prominently give a tough competition to other fast food restraints. In many Indian cities families have an exposure to western media and western cuisine further the trend of increasing trend of women joining the workforce will also help us in creating awareness about the western cuisine amongst others who are unaware. But usually the western media accomplishes its job in making them know about our dishes we serve. This way some of our dishes we offer to our customers will not be seem strange or weird to them and theyââ¬â¢ll get easily comfortable with the food. The economy of India has been eased up and most of the tariff and non tariff limitations are either lessened or have been completely removed from the country this has made possible for the international businesses to make their room in the Indian market. (Fast Food Industry in India, 2009) There are number of renowned MNCââ¬â¢s thinking India for their growth, and they are ready to bring upon changes on their menu according to Indian wants. KFC has amazingly increased the number of meals made of vegetables with receiving of 15% of its revenues on selling vegetable items. Mediratta, 2006) Not only this but Dominoââ¬â¢s the global leader of pizza delivery, is now repositioning itself in dining out restaurants, as it doesnââ¬â¢t make sense to the staff of Dominoââ¬â¢s to limit their business as a convenient delivery service provider (Kaul 2006) Hence it is important for all the big organizations generating successful businesses all over the world to bring up some changes and variations in their businesses according to the needs and desires of their customers. The customers are termed to be a key of success to such business. But these days Indian food industry is on a shortage of food processing infrastructure, thatââ¬â¢s why the government is offering the foreign entrepreneurs with tax reduction and subsidies. (Everyoneââ¬â¢s invited, 2006) With a lot of advantages challenges are equally important and tough to face and our business too have to face these challenges. Dealing with no challenges there are hardly any business that is tend to flourish. Every business, be it small or big has to face the hardships. Opening up our fast food franchise in India sounds and definitely is productive but at the same time we are loaded with extreme challenges. India is said to be the richest in culture and its traditions. There are many areas in India where eating at home is established centuries ago and the tradition is still carried on by the descendents. Creating the awareness of dining out with families and changing their eating habits is a slow moving procedure. Generally there are a set of people, Hindus and also non- Hindus who do not prefer eating meat or avoid all such meals that slow down the physical and spiritual development of a human body like garlic and onion (Fast Food Industry in India, 2009). Considering their opinions and wants and to show the impact of their opinions is necessary yet will be challenging. As our customers always have been our first priority, maintaining our standards it has to be our responsibility to satisfy and delight them through our services and food of their wants. There are people who are now diverging themselves towards the fast food chains due to the western mediaââ¬â¢s exposure in Asian countries this is a helping hand t us but not exactly solve all our problems as there are some fundamentalists who turn out to be a difficult barrier to cover. They provoke people to stand against such believes and force them to stick to their old eating habits. Dealing with such people and making them aware about our products will definitely be a difficult job to do. In addition to this, India has some strict labor laws because of which it slows down the creation of formal jobs in industries (BBC, 2005) As India is considered to be a hub of multi cultures there are people who belong to a culture where no dishes made of any kind of meat be it sea food or mutton or beef, their belief prohibits them to eat meals mad up of such meats. Cow slaughter is banned in India where Hindus are in majority, it is because what their religion teaches them. Cow they believe is to be holy and they are found to be worshipping them. They consider the beefing process to be forbidden to them by in their religion not only this but according to them not only untouchables, but Indian Muslims and Christians do eat beef. In India cow-worshipping is said to be a vital part of Indian culture (Harris, 2010). Our franchise shall operate in a distinguish way keeping in mind and taking care of all the barriers and limitations provided by the country. It has already mentioned above that customers are the main key to the success of any business, be it large or small. The franchise shall be opened up through out the day as India has an extreme night life in big cities and in such areas fast food culture prevails immensely. Not only this will the prices menu and location all be according to the expediency of the Indian citizens. The menu like always will be diversified and for all the vegetarian lovers our menu will have a vast number of dishes cooked with vegetables. As some people are largely concerned about their meals, and if on the other hand they are against eating beef, for such people a separate vegetarian staff will be appointed so that they remain contended with the hygiene issues if they would have any.

Symbolism in “Country Lovers”
A Forbidden Love: Thebedi and Paulus Jennifer Boozer ENG 125: Introduction to Literature Instructor: Kristina Stutler March 24, 2013 Country Lovers by Nadine Gordimer is a short story centered around the theme of forbidden love between the two main characters Paulus and Thebedi. They met when they were kids, as Thebedi used to work on Paulus' father's farm. They used to sneak out and meet at the river bed. After Paulus went off to veterinary school, Thebedi had his baby. When Paulus came back for the summer he heard of her baby being light skinned and killed it so that no one would ever know that it was his baby. The story's theme of forbidden love is strengthened by Gordimer's use of symbolism, imagery, and local color. Symbolism is a key element contributing to the story's theme. One symbol that repeats itself in Country Lovers is the ââ¬Å"gilt hoop ear-ringsâ⬠that Paulus gives to Thebedi when they were young (as cited in Clugston, 2010). The earrings are a symbol for their love together.Even after Paulus killed their baby girl, Thebedi still wore them when she accused him of ââ¬Å"pouring liquid into the baby's mouthâ⬠(as cited in Clugston, 2010). Even in her hysteric situation, she still wore those earring that Paulus gave to her. She wore them again when they went to trial. This leads me to believe that after all was said and done, she still loved Paulus, even though she knew they could never be together. Another symbol that is relevant to the theme is their baby. Their baby was living proof that they were in love with each other. After seeing the baby with his own eyes, Paulus seemed to have panicked; anyone who looked at this child would know that it was not Njabulo's. Njabulo was Thebedi's husband who was the ââ¬Å"opaque coffee-grounds colour that had always been called black [â⬠¦] the same colour of Thebedi's faceâ⬠(as cited in Clugston, 2010). They would know that the father of this child was a white man. In their culture, it was socially unacceptable to have interracial relationships. Paulus felt he had to get rid of the baby, and he did. Imagery also contributes to the theme of forbidden love. One day Thebedi and Paulus met at the riverbed. Gordimer noted that the girls that Paulus went to school with would swim in bikinis and they never made him feel like Thebedi did ââ¬Å"when [she] came up the bank and sat beside him, the drops of water beading off her dark legs the only points of light in the earth-smelling deep shadeâ⬠(as cited in Clugston, 2010). The image of Thebedi, a regular African American girl, making Paulus feel like he had never felt before contributes to the theme of forbidden love. Local color is another literary element that strengthens the theme in Country Lovers.Local color is defined as ââ¬Å"unique images, realistic dialog and true-to-life descriptions to fully portray people and life in the region where the story will occurâ⬠(Clugston, 2010, ch 6. 1, para 1). In this story, local color is demonstrated in the first paragraph when Gordimer discusses the relationship between the black and white children changes as they grow up. They play together up until they go to school but then after that, the white children do not play with them anymore ââ¬Å"even in the the holidaysâ⬠(as cited in Clugston, 2010). The white children are apparently oblivious to how society thinks they should act toward black children. It was not until after they went to school did they learn that they are superior to the black race. It is very important to use different literary elements to strengthen a story so that the reader's attention can be grasped. It is beneficial to the reader when the author uses elements such as symbolism, imagery, and local color because it allows the reader to put his or herself inside the story and feel the forbidden love that Paulus and Thebedi experienced. The Military in New Kingdom Egypt
ââ¬ËExplain the role and importance of the military in New Kingdom Egypt. ââ¬â¢ In New Kingdom Egypt, the military became very important. The army evolved from being a disorganised band of conscripted peasants into a lethal, professional outfit well equipped and ready for combat. Egypt became the most expansionist it had even been in its history. The emergence of Egyptââ¬â¢s army started in the 18th Dynasty when Ahmose expelled the Hyksos from Egypt. Tuthmosis I and Tuthmosis III and also Ramses II and Ramses III further maintained Egyptââ¬â¢s military strength in campaigns ranging from Nubia to Syria. Prior to the New Kingdom in Egypt, the countryââ¬â¢s military was an unprofessional group made up at different times of peasants, Nubian and Greek mercenaries and the Kingââ¬â¢s personal troops. In the New Kingdom, this changed dramatically. For the first time Egypt had a standing army, and being a soldier brought prestige and social standing as it had not done in the past. With the advances in the way the army was made up, there were also major advances in the equipment they used. For the first time body armour was used, as well as the sickle sword. During the 18th Dynasty in Egypt, Ahmose brought military to the fore of Egyptian life. He was the first king of the 18th Dynasty and probably ruled from 1539-1514 BC. Ahmose attacked Avaris and subsequently the Palestinian fortress of Sharuhen to end the Hyksosââ¬â¢ reign over Egypt. Ahmose then turned to Nubia and Egyptââ¬â¢s land grew south to the Second Cataract. After this Ahmose returned his attentions to Palestine and may have led campaigns as far as the Euphrates. Tuthmosis I followed soon after Ahmoseââ¬â¢s reign and was highly trained in military practises. He only ruled for a short time ââ¬â around 1493-1481 BC. However Tuthmosis I was a very effective general and in several campaigns, Tuthmosis I reached Argo, the Third Cataract, in Nubia and also the Euphrates River ââ¬â while fighting the Syrians. He also defended Egyptââ¬â¢s colonies against the Mitanni people. Tuthmosis III was also very focussed on military. It is possible he spent most of his younger years in the military as his stepmother and regent, Hatshepsut, took over the rule of Egypt when Tuthmosis III was only very young. Tuthmosis III only took over the governance of Egypt when Hatshepsut finally died, leaving him free to take his rightful place. He ruled from around 1504-1450 BC, although for part of that time Hatshepsut may have been ruling. However once Tuthmosis III was king of Egypt, he led many successful military campaigns. He has even been referred to as the ââ¬ËNapoleon of Egyptââ¬â¢. In the battle for Megiddo, Tuthmosis III led his troops to fight through a narrow pass where soldiers could only march single file. When the army emerged from the canyon it was discovered that the enemy troops has arranged their lines expecting an attack from the two easier routes, and the Egyptians subsequently defeated their enemy in battle. In other wars, Tuthmosis III and his army marched from Thebes along the Syrian coast and captured three cities. Every year after that, Egyptââ¬â¢s armies would march against Syria until dominance over Palestine was established. Tuthmosis III recorded the capture of 350 cities at Karnak and he finally took the Syrian city Kadesh in his 42nd year of rule. The military continued to play a part in Egyptââ¬â¢s affairs during the New Kingdom with Ramses II. He was part of the 19th Dynasty and ruled from 1279-1213 BC. His most well known campaign was the Battle of Kadesh, although he brilliantly maintained Egyptââ¬â¢s borders against the Sherden (pirates) and created a defensive line of forts along Egyptââ¬â¢s north western border. Ramses II also made a peace treaty with the Hittites, which led to Egypt prospering greatly. Furthermore, Ramses II secured the kingdom of Amurru to return to Egyptian influence, as it had been lost during his fatherââ¬â¢s reign. However the Battle of Kadesh was his most famous, although was neither a victory but more of a loss for the Egyptians. Ramses II advanced on the Hittite army from the south, but was led to believe by captured enemy scouts that the Hittites were still far away to the north. Ramses set up camp only to find that the Hittites had already arrived for battle, and tried to hurry the rest of his army forward. However, 2 500 Hittites ambushed them as they tried to meet up with Ramsesââ¬â¢ forces and were defeated. The Hittites then attacked Ramses and his troops. According to documentation, Ramses almost single handedly held off the Hittites. However it may be the case that the Hittites were simply distracted by the riches in the camp. Ramses was then saved by the appearance of the Neââ¬â¢arin, another body of troops, which Ramses had separated in order to approach Kadesh from the north. The armies may have fought again the next day, but the end result of the conflict was the peace treaty between the Egyptians and the Hittites. This then prevented Egypt from ever taking control of Kadesh. Ramses III was the last great Pharaoh of Egypt and ruled in the 20th Dynasty from 1184-1153 BC. In Ramses IIIââ¬â¢s reign, the Libyans attacked in the south but were crushed by the Egyptian army. However Ramses and Egypt had a more powerful threat to deal with: the Sea People, who had destroyed the Hittite empire. The Sea People moved in to Egypt from Syria with the intention of settling. Luckily for Egypt Ramses was quick to send his army to fend off the Sea Peoples and the crisis was averted at least for a time. Next the Sea People approached from the sea, a cleaver move considering Egyptââ¬â¢s poor naval force. However again Egypt fended off this attack and saved itself once more. Ramses again proved himself an effective general while defending from another attack from the Libyans and Meshwesh which left 2 000 enemy soldiers dead on the battlefield. However once the New Kingdom collapsed Egypt lost most (if not all) of itââ¬â¢s colonies and was mostly ruled by foreigner. No one ever saw the likes of what occurred in the New Kingdom again. The military in New Kingdom Egypt was an organised and prestigious machine unlike anything that Egypt had seen before. Several Pharaohs stood out from the rest in terms of what they did for Egypt: Ahmose, who expelled that Hyksos; Tuthmosis I and Tuthmosis III who led campaigns in Nubia, Argo, Syria and Kadesh; Ramses II and Ramses III were both excellent generals who maintained Egyptââ¬â¢s borders and fought to maintain the existence of Egypt. During New Kingdom Egypt the military became more important than it had ever been in the last years of power of the worldââ¬â¢s most fantastic nations.

The best way to influence the government by ordinary people Essay
The best way to influence the government by ordinary people - Essay Example make sure that the government listens to the views of the ordinary citizen, and in recent times social networking sites and blogs are proving to be an excellent pathway. The great advantage of social networking sites like facebook, or even twitter, is that they can reach a large number of people very quickly. When an idea takes hold on the internet and is passed from person to person, then it is called a ââ¬Å"viralâ⬠process, because it spreads like a virus through the contacts that are made. We can see in the so-called ââ¬Å"Arab Springâ⬠that dissatisfaction with government performance has resulted in protests all across North Africa and the Middle East. Demonstrations and rallies are co-ordinated by facebook, in the large cities at least, and this means that many voices can be heard at the same time, forcing the government to take notice. This has resulted in violence on some occasions, because of the strong feelings of the protestors and the harsh reaction by the governments concerned. Violence, however, is not the best way bring about change. People suffer because of it, and many become bitter, resulting in a cycle of destruction t hat helps nobody. A more effective use of social networking, and one which is used in the United States, is to make concerns public on the internet, and to draw attention to issues that a lot of people would like to change. Many pathways from the twentieth century like writing letters to a member of Congress, or drawing up a petition, or even lobbying key politicians, can now be done online in the twenty-first century. The issue of climate change has many different dimensions, and an ordinary citizen can choose social networking sites for different types of action. For local issues, it is possible to join a local lobbying group, and to participate in meetings, for example to protest about any environmental damage being done by a local factory. Dates and times can be published on the protest groupââ¬â¢s web, or blog, or facebook page,
